I never paint with brushes because it creates a feeling of detachment from the surface of the canvas, so it is important for me to overcome this disconnection and not think about it.
CURRENTLY LIVES AND WORKS IN MOSCOW
Shaped by her upbringing in a traditional Russian family, Anna Afonina captures everyday moments of her life. Anna`s work is primarily figurative; subjects are captured in moments of silence and self-reflection. Their inner emotions rise to the surface conveying human nature, complex emotions, and familial relationships, yet, very personal and but so common.
Anna studied Graphic Design at the Togliatti School of Arts and Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. Since 2019, has been a student at the Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia.
