Fundbüro Geist: Solo Exhibition by Anna Andrzhievskaia
Voskhod Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition by Anna Andrzhievskaia, titled Fundbüro Geist. Anna has accumulated extensive exhibition experience across Europe in recent years ( including participating in Art Nou Barcelona 2024, exhibitions in museums M HKA and Tartu Art Museum and Manifesta, 2014, among many others). However, this marks her first exhibition in Switzerland.
In her work — spanning sculptures, paintings, and drawings — Anna delves into themes of migration and the female gaze. She creates entirely new worlds populated by whimsical and fantastical creatures, symbols, and absurdist imagery. Beneath their seemingly simple forms and bright colors lies a profound depth of complex and dramatic narratives.
Before 2022, Anna enjoyed a thriving career as an artist in Russia. She is a co-founder of the independent artistic group Sever-7 based in St. Petersburg, an experience that has deeply influenced her artistic language. As a member of this collective, she received numerous accolades, including the Present Continuous prize from the V-A-C Foundation and a special prize for contemporary art named after Sergey Kuryokhin (2021).
Fundbüro Geist reflects Anna’s journey as a nomad and a forced traveler. Like many Russian artists, she made the decision to leave her home country in 2022, ultimately settling in Barcelona to start a new chapter. Over the past two years, she has navigated feelings of displacement, the loss of a sense of home, and the challenge of redefining herself. This exhibition invites you to step into her “lost and found” office and engage with these deeply personal themes.
